Out of the blue Louie was in the kitchen, mini-Bittman in hand, narrating what he needed to make muffins...'and the baking soda, and mix it together - need the salt and the pumpkin...' Going from drawer to drawer and cabinet to cabinet. So much pretend play/reenactment these days- mostly driven by stories, or real life. Yesterday after witnessing a garbage truck back up into a minivan stopped at a light - and push him into the intersection, it was all Louie could talk or play about (and me too!). Today's self-initiated play: making muffins & Edmond the Squirrel. Couch was the tree where they lived. Louie, of course was Edmond, the squirrel.
